About John Hyde and AE Academy
John Hyde is an Academic Coach and licensed teacher who specializes in assisting students with executive functioning, essential academic skills, and lasting motivation.
John was inspired to create AE Academy by his varied educational experiences as a teacher, tutor, and student himself.
As an educator, he recognized that many students are not being taught the fundamentals of learning, and that many families are underserved by the educational system and traditional tutors – both options often focusing mainly on memorization over understanding; testing over critical thinking; and passing over growing, problem-solving, and living to one’s full potential.
And as a student, growing up in Virginia and Colorado, he always loved learning. Though – despite being “successful” by traditional marks – he didn’t always love school, simply because he felt there was a lot missing from the experience. Additionally, he saw peers who were as intelligent as himself fail to meet the same academic standards, since they lacked appropriate, tailored, and effective support and encouragement.
Fortunately, he was lucky enough to have a few people in his life empower and teach him to delve into his curiosity, scholarly interests, and extracurricular passions – all while staying organized, focused, high-achieving, goal-oriented, and growth-minded.
Through AE Academy, he is excited to be able to serve as this supplementary support system for a wide range of students, helping them stay motivated and achieve long-term academic, functional, and personal success.
